On Saturday, November 20th Beer Church hosted the 12th Annual Turkey Bowl — a food drive and fundraiser for the West Seattle Food Bank. Participants raised nearly $3,000 and collected 3,500 lbs. of food. On top of that, we had a great time doing it.
Pictures and a video from the event are below.
Within the larger event, local breweries battled it out in the Battle of the Brewers Tournament. This year there were nine breweries involved: Big Al Brewing, Elliott Bay Brewing, Elysian Brewing, Emerald City Beer Co, Georgetown Brewing, Naked City Brewing, Pike Brewing, Two Beers Brewing, and Schooner Exact Brewing. It was Elliott Bay Brewing that took the trophy home this year.
There was also a competition between local bars—the Beer Church Bar Brawl. Participating bars included: Beveridge Place Pub, Dog and Pony Alehouse, Elliott Bay Brewery Pub, Porterhouse Pub and West 5 Lounge. In the end, West 5 took home the trophy.
Most of the participants were just there to have fun with family and friends, with no competition except to see who could win a coveted Beer Frame (when bowlers have a chance to win a pitcher of beer). Turkey Bowl is perhaps the best example of what we try to do here at Beer Church. Our mission is to provide fun, affordable and easy ways for people who like beer to make a difference in their communities.
Beer Church would like to thank our wonderful sponsors, Mike's Hard Lemonade and Link Apartments. We would like to thank all of the businesses that supported the cause by donating raffle prizes. And a big shout out to the local brewing community for showing up in force to help make this event a huge success.
This event also featured the world premier of Beer Church Pale Ale—a delicious beer we designed and brewed with Big Al Brewing. CLICK HERE to learn more about Beer Church Pale Ale
